Jim Wicks is an award winning TV Producer, and a recognized major market News Anchor/Reporter.

Jim found initial success in television in the 1980s as a news reporter. A mutual friend introduced Jim to ABC-TV Anchor Peter Jennings, who encouraged the young reporter to become an anchor.

Jim’s anchor debut came in 1986 at the Toronto affiliate of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He was quickly promoted from weekend anchor to weeknight anchor of the 11PM program, Newsfinal.

Over time, Jim caught the attention of talent agents in the United States, and throughout the 1990s and 2000s held anchor positions with network affiliates in Miami, Cleveland, St. Louis, Tampa/Sarasota, and West Palm Beach.

Jim formed a production company, Wicks Films, and moved behind the camera as producer and director. His first production, “Winds of Change,” was a documentary on the devastation wrought by the twin Hurricanes of Francis and Jeanne. That was followed by back to back social documentaries on life in Haiti. The two films, “Haiti: On the Edge,” and “Hait: A Burning Need” were shot on location in Port au Prince, and throughout the impoverished island.

Jim formed another production company, Zfx Studios, specializing in motion graphics design. His good friend, Jerzy Drozda, Jr., a multimedia, motion graphics and Visual Fx artist in Warsaw, Poland, encouraged him to try designing. Jim began creating show opens and titles for producers, and became in demand for a growing number of clients.

Jim resumed his anchor career for the New York Times-owned television station in Sarasota/Tampa. After the station was closed abruptly due to a downturn in the economy and sold, Jim assumed the role of Creative Services Producer at CBS12 in West Palm Beach. He is currently an award winning Producer for all local commercials produced at the television station.
