Jim found initial success in television in the 1980s in front of the camera. A mutual friend introduced Jim to ABC-TV Anchor Peter Jennings, who mentored the young Canadian to become an anchor.

Jim debuted as Anchor at the Toronto affiliate of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. He was quickly promoted from weekend Anchor to weeknight Anchor of the 11PM program, Newsfinal.

Jim caught the attention of talent agents in the U.S., and throughout the 1990s and 2000s held Anchor positions with ABC, NBC, and PBS television network affiliates in Miami, Cleveland, St. Louis, Tampa/Sarasota, and West Palm Beach.

After a two decade career in front of the camera, Jim left the news business to form his own production company.

Drawing on Jim’s creative background, and his extensive television experience, Jim Wicks Productions has become the recognized market leader of high definition commercial production. Jim is the recipient of numerous nominations and industry awards for his work.

Jim’s  good friend, and mentor, Jack Tunnicliffe, encouraged him to explore the post-production world of color grading. Jack is the Chief Colorist at Java Post Production in Regina, Canada, and highly respected internationally. Jim is honored to be the first student to receive Master Class Color Training in Java Post’s new Film Finishing Suite.
